Virtual CFOThe month still has to close

The files for this work stay in Dallas. A company in Texas joins by video, and the decision waits until the month we named is actually closed.

Name the decision

Files stay in Dallas.

The files this practice works from sit in Dallas. A company based in Dallas meets us the way neighbors meet. Shops in Houston, Austin, San Antonio, or a small town take the hour by video from where they already work. We are all Texans. We keep one file room in Dallas and we do not borrow a room in the town where you work. The books are shared on the call, and the month still closes on the day we named, whichever town the company sits in.

Home base for this practice is Dallas. Owners in Texas join the hour by video from the town where the company runs. If the statement and the books still disagree, that disagreement is the first thing said on the hour. When one sitting cannot finish the tie, the decision waits for the close that follows. The hour is the same video call the rest of the site describes, with that month named in the first sentence.

A cold front, and the day that was already named.

A North Texas cold front still surprises a warm week, and we feel it in Dallas too. The month we already named still has to close on that same day. Weather does not move the tie. If you are outside Dallas and Fort Worth, we are all Texans under that sky, and the close still keeps the day it was given.

Places a reader in Dallas already walks.

White Rock Lake is the northeast loop people walk when they need to think. A lap like that is familiar, and the question after it is whether the bank matches the books. We can all enjoy that loop. The hour still starts on the match.

The line at Pecan Lodge in Deep Ellum is a wait this city understands. We still want that week's receipts on paper before the tray ever comes out. A barbecue queue is a fair reason to leave the papers for a while. It is a poor reason to skip the row.

The streetcar people call the M-Line still covers McKinney Avenue in Uptown each day. When that car is parked, the month we already named is still waiting on the bank match. The ride can end. The papers still have to agree.

Klyde Warren Park is the deck over Woodall Rodgers in downtown Dallas, open from early morning until late. We know that lawn the way any Texan knows a park a city put on top of traffic. We enjoy the idea of it, and we also wonder what the deck cost to keep and whether that cost has a life on the books. A buildout, a truck, and a lease have a life on paper too. The call is where that life gets a plain sentence.

Oak Cliff, a streetcar, and a street with three names.

North Oak Cliff still treats the independent shops and galleries along North Bishop Avenue, where it meets Davis Street, as a town of its own, and that walk is Bishop Arts. Any Texan can enjoy a block that insists on keeping its own name, and so can we. We also ask a plainer question while the lights are on. Did the week of receipts get written down, or did the screen get a prettier color while the drawer stayed a rumor.

From downtown, the Dallas Streetcar takes the Houston Street Viaduct and lets riders off toward Bishop Arts in Oak Cliff. Any Texan can enjoy a short line that stitches two neighborhoods, and so can we. A crossing does not move the cash. The week still has to name what came in and what went out.

Lower Greenville is the restaurant stretch of Greenville Avenue in east Dallas, the blocks people still separate into lowest, lower, and upper. We can enjoy that kind of argument the way any Texan enjoys a street with a nickname. We also ask whether the week those rooms were full got written down. A good night and a closed week are different pleasures.

When the heat, the hail, or a flight shows up.

Hot afternoons in Dallas in July and August climb past 100 degrees, and air-conditioning crews already build their year around that run. Dallas feels that same long heat, and so do we. Anyone who has worked through an August in Texas knows the afternoon gets shorter. Heat is not an excuse the bank will take for an open month. The company can sit on either side of the state and the close still keeps the day it was given.

Cool air sliding south runs into Gulf humidity over Dallas in spring, and the meeting throws hail, lightning, and now and then a tornado. We live with that sky. Every Texan who has watched it turn green already knows the feeling. A green sky does not postpone the close. The day we named is still the day.

Dallas Love Field sits about six miles northwest of downtown, the close-in airport where a lot of short trips still start. We know it as the place Texans already use when a room is truly required. Most of these hours do not need a room. A video call carries the month. When a lender, a partner, or a stack of paper truly wants people at one table, we say so.

The Design District northwest of downtown Dallas turned old warehouse floors into showrooms, galleries, and restaurants. We like that kind of second life, the way any Texan likes a building that learned a new trade. We also wonder what was left on the books when the use changed. A warehouse and a gallery can share a wall and not share a number.

The May report, and the line this practice will not cross.

The franchise filing due in May is the report that reaches the Comptroller. It lands in the middle of May and it reads the same books as the close. We name the margin method you already use. We do not invent one on the call.

On the Comptroller reports that cover 2026 and again 2027, revenue that stays under two point six five million leaves the tax line at nothing. A retail shop or a wholesale shop that clears that line is charged three eighths of one percent. A company that is neither retail nor wholesale meets a rate of three quarters of one percent on those same two report years. Owners on this page treat the fifteenth of May as the day that report has to reach the state.

We read the margin method already on the books. We do not switch methods to make a month look kinder, and we do not print a dollar figure next to a rate as if the page were the Comptroller. Disregarding the company for federal income tax does not pick the margin report. The information return and the May report share a year. They do not share a form.

The Texas Occupations Code, sections 901.451, 901.453, and 901.456, is where the reserved work is written down. An audit, a review, and a compilation stay off this call in every town in Texas, the same way they stay off the call everywhere else. The disclosures page says how this practice draws that line.
